Aston Villa news: Superstar Kendrick Lamar to perform at Villa Park after going viral at the Super Bowl

Kendrick Lamar is bringing his highly anticipated Grand National Tour to Birmingham this summer, with a stop at Villa Park on July 10.

Sports News Blitz writer Harrison Pearce reports that the rap icon will take the stage just months after his headline-making Super Bowl performance.

A Super Bowl star comes to Villa Park

Aston Villa have just announced that Kendrick Lamar and SZA will perform at Villa Park this summer.

As part of the American rapper’s Grand National Tour, he will be in Birmingham on July 10.

The duo recently headlined the Super Bowl 59 halftime show at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

The Super Bowl halftime show has long been a must-watch event, with Lamar now joining a star-studded list of past performers, including The Weeknd, Usher, Rihanna, and Beyonce.

Tour dates and ticket information

Presented by Live Nation, pgLang and Top Dawg Entertainment, the tour will hit 13 stadiums across Europe and the United Kingdom in 2025.

The UK leg kicks off at Glasgow’s Hampden Park on July 8 before heading to Villa Park two days later.

From there, the tour continues to Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on July 19 and London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on July 22.

Villa have confirmed that pre-sales for Villa Men’s and Women’s season ticket holders will start at 9am on Wednesday, February 12, while members’ pre-sale will start at 2pm the same day.

General sale starts at 9am on Friday, February 14.

Strictly no resale is permitted - any attempts will result in ticket cancellation.

A chance for redemption?

Lamar has a huge following and will have an even bigger spotlight on his next performances after going viral at the Super Bowl.

K.Dot has received backlash from NFL fans after ‘a disappointing performance’ during the halftime show, with many fans wanting him to come back stronger than ever.

Lamar performed last summer’s hit Not Like Us at the Super Bowl - a track famously aimed at fellow music superstar Drake.

The rivalry began when the American dropped the single on May 4, 2024, which may have contributed to the mixed reactions from fans in the stadium.

Performing at the Caesars Superdome is no small feat, but many were left wondering why he didn’t include some of the older hits that made him a global icon.

Now, the Grand National Tour presents the perfect chance for Lamar to showcase new music while revisiting his roots.

English fans will get their moment when he takes the stage at Villa Park and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - where they’ll be expecting an electric atmosphere worthy of the American stage.
