Chelsea news: Chelsea Women set for four consecutive clashes against Man City in March

Six months into the 2024/25 season, Chelsea remain unbeaten across all competitions.

March will be a defining month for the reigning Women’s Super League (WSL) champions, as they compete in the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) quarter-finals and the League Cup final.

Battle of the Blues

Sonia Bompastor’s side secured their place in the League Cup final after a 2-0 victory over West Ham on Wednesday, February 5.

The following night, Arsenal and Manchester City battled for the second final spot, with Gareth Taylor’s side emerging victorious thanks to Mary Fowler’s last-gasp winner.

The League Cup final is set for Saturday, March 15, at Derby County’s Pride Park.

On Friday, February 7, the UWCL quarter-final draw confirmed another showdown.

Chelsea will face Manchester City yet again. The first leg will be played away on March 18 or 19, with the return leg at Stamford Bridge on March 26 or 27.

The two sides will then face each other again on March 23 in a WSL clash.

This will mark four consecutive matches between Chelsea and Manchester City in March.

While City has faced challenges this season, including a recent 4-3 loss to Arsenal, they remain a formidable opponent.

The quadruple dream

Chelsea’s 2024/25 campaign has been nothing short of historic.

Despite competing in all competitions - WSL, UWCL, League Cup, and FA Cup - Bompastor’s side remain unbeaten.

Even more remarkable, they’ve dropped points just once all season, with a single draw separating them from a perfect record.

They are favourites to claim all three domestic trophies and are strong contenders for the prestigious European title.

If Bompastor leads Chelsea to UWCL glory, she will become the first manager to deliver the club’s long-coveted Champions League crown.

Domestically, the reigning WSL champions have been a dominant force despite their relatively recent rise in women’s football.

With seven league titles - five of them won consecutively under Emma Hayes - the Blues are setting new standards.

Now, they’re chasing history.

Arsenal remain the only English club to complete a quadruple. Bompastor might just be the one to add Chelsea to that elite list.
