F1 news: When will teams unveil their 2025 challengers?
The 2025 Formula 1 season kicks off in less than a month, and it's about that time of year when teams unveil their challengers for the new season.
This year is different. F1 is gearing up for a historic moment ahead of the 2025 season, with all 10 teams set to unveil their new liveries on the same evening at London’s iconic O2 Arena.
This special event, held on February 18, not only kicks off the sport’s 75th-anniversary celebrations but also promises an unforgettable experience for both fans and industry figures alike.
The occasion will see the presence of every driver and team principal, with interviews and discussions offering unique insights into what lies ahead.
To top it off, fans will be treated to live music and entertainment as the teams take centre stage.
Individual launches
However, while this collective launch is certainly a highlight, several teams have planned standalone reveals where they will give the media and sponsors a closer look at their new machines.
Williams will unveil their 2025 car on February 14 at Silverstone, showcasing a one-off livery for the event, before revealing their season livery at the O2.
Ferrari have scheduled their launch for February 19, the day after the London event, at their Maranello headquarters.
Aston Martin plan to reveal the AMR25 on February 23 via their digital channels.
Mercedes will unveil the AMG F1 W16 E Performance on February 24, though their 2025 livery will debut at F1 75 Live on February 18 at the O2 Arena.
Fake concepts and sandbagging
Teams are known for keeping their full designs under wraps to prevent rivals from analyzing or copying their innovations.
It’s common for launches to focus on liveries rather than technical details, with teams showcasing their liveries on a show car or an older model instead of the fully developed 2025 challenger.
Then there’s sandbagging - a tactic where teams, particularly Mercedes, deliberately hide their true pace during pre-season testing, only revealing their full potential once the season begins.
The wait ends on Friday, March 14, when the 2025 cars hit the track in Free Practice 1 at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.
