LeBron James and Bronny James Jr make NBA history: A father-son debut years in the making
On Tuesday night, history was made as LeBron James and his son, Bronny James Jr, shared the court during the Los Angeles Lakers’ season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
This marked the first time in NBA history that a father-son duo played in the same game.
The pair checked in together late in the second quarter, cementing a moment that LeBron described as unforgettable.
"No matter how old I get, no matter how my memory may fade, I will never forget that moment," LeBron said during a joint post-game conference with Bronny.
For years, fans and analysts alike have speculated about LeBron and Bronny one day sharing the court.
Six years ago, LeBron was asked if he could see himself playing alongside his son, who was just 13 years old at the time.
LeBron, then 33, laughed and said: "If he has a chance and it seems like he can make it, we’ve got to make it happen."
Dream becomes reality
Fast forward to Tuesday night, and that dream became a reality.
LeBron’s career has been defined by both his dominance on the court and his remarkable longevity.
Now 39 years old, LeBron has maintained an elite level of performance for over two decades.
Even on Lakers Media Day this year, LeBron recalled a moment from when Bronny was just five years old and made a lay-up against other kids.
He immediately turned to his wife and said: "He’s special." That early instinct has now manifested in Bronny’s professional debut.

The Lakers won the game 110-103, with LeBron contributing 16 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Bronny, who was selected by the Lakers in the second round of the NBA draft with the No 55 pick, played a limited role in his debut, logging three minutes on the court.
Although he didn’t score, he managed one offensive rebound. It’s typical for rookies, especially those picked late in the draft, to see minimal minutes in their first games.
This historic moment not only underscores LeBron’s incredible career longevity but also adds another chapter to his enduring legacy.
After more than two decades of dominance, he now has the rare opportunity to share the NBA stage with his son.
The Lakers will next take the court on Friday, October 25, when they face the Phoenix Suns at home.
