Man Utd analysis: Red Devils fans feeling the fear after Magpies mauling
Manchester United’s dismal season hit a new low on Monday night as a dominant Newcastle United easily overpowered them to secure a 2-0 win at Old Trafford.
Goals from Alexander Isak and Joelinton piled the pressure on Ruben Amorim’s Red Devils, who are now just seven points above the relegation zone after Ipswich Town’s impressive 2-0 win over Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea chumps.
Amorim admitted post-match that United are in ‘one of the most difficult moments in the history of the club’, and there’s a real fear that they will be dragged into a fight for Premier League survival as the season unravels.
Sports News Blitz’s Robert Bore is feeling that fear in every bone - and picks through the debris of Monday night’s mauling by Eddie Howe’s Magpies…
United are scarily bad
For Each A Road...
For Everyman A Religion...
Find everybody and rule...
Fuck everything and rumble...
Ian Brown, Stone Roses, big Man United fan. Red legend.
Maybe he was onto something though when he penned the lyrics to F.E.A.R.
Fear, it's pretty apt at the moment if you ask me.
United are scary, scary bad.
It was a sixth defeat in all competitions in December.
And only the third month (ever) in which they’ve lost six games after April 1926 (6) and September 1930 (7), conceding 18 goals in the month which is also the most in a single month since March 1964.
So how do we dissect that?
No road back for Rashford
Let's start here: For each a road...
There's no road back for Marcus Rashford it seems.
Out from the cold and on the bench against the Geordies, it was hardly the thaw in relations needed as permafrost has seemingly set in and he sat the game out in his tracksuit.
Maybe a bigger message and indication as to his future at the club as United chased a 2-0 deficit with their only real threat sat in the comfy seats.
Take me to church
For everyman a religion...
Well, maybe for those poor souls sat in the stands who attend their church week-in, week-out.
Because for those on the turf they appear to be praying to a different god than us. And if they aren't, then they should be asking for some divine intervention from somewhere.

A simple game
Find everybody and rule...
Football is a simple game, you pass to the guy in the same colour shirt as you. Some of those in red hadn't seemed to fathom that out yet. Those in black and white had.
Fuck everything and rumble...
And this is maybe the most grating of all. There is no fight.
There seems to be a general acceptance that we simply aren't good enough.
There's no biting into tackles or smashing the opposition to lift the crowd.
We are soft. Lay down over there and I'll tickle your belly as I nod another goal past your keeper while nobody marks me.
Talk about Bruno
I've been a critic of Bruno Fernandes and his attitude in certain games, skulking about like a scolded child, and that's without mentioning the silly second yellow that kept him out of Monday night's game.
But at least you get the sense that he hurts, even if he would be better suited with a Roy Keane-like figure next to him to do the captain's role.
It wasn't until Kobbie Mainoo came on for Joshua Zirkzee (again ineffectual) that we even looked like keeping hold of a ball in the middle, but the damage had already been done.
So what are we left with ahead of a trip to runaway leaders Liverpool on Sunday?
Fantastic expectations, amazing revelations...
Any sort of result at the weekend would be beyond my wildest dreams, let alone expectations.
There is no conceivable way of seeing anything but a comfortable home win to ease the hosts along on their journey to a United-equalling 20th title. A little bit of sick comes up even thinking that.
Final execution and resurrection...
My thoughts immediately turn to poor Rasmus Hojlund, woefully starved of service yet again, just one shot off target to his name on the night on the paltry scraps he is fed.
Resurrection = Rashford and we know that ship has sailed.
Free expression as revolution...
Well, that's United's lifeblood, young players given a platform to search and destroy. Sadly, what we are seeing is an implosion.
Finding everything and realizing...
I've got the fear!
