MMA news: Michael “Venom” Page offers advice to Shara Magomedov following their fight
Michael “Venom” Page (MVP) recently delivered a masterclass UFC win.
In this article, Sports News Blitz writer Niall Togher breaks down MVP’s advice to Magomedov following their fight and his thoughts on the rising prospect’s future.
MVP dominates Magomedov
Page put on another striking clinic on Saturday as he outclassed Shara “Bullet” Magomedov en route to a unanimous decision victory.
The Brit moved to middleweight for the bout, 15 pounds north of where he normally competes at welterweight.
Despite being the underdog, MVP took Magomedov’s undefeated record and showed the up-and-coming prospect there are levels when it comes to striking in MMA.
Following the defeat, Magomedov posted a statement to social media stating that he “knew the risks when stepping in with such a nightmarish health condition and preparation.”
Page’s advice for Magomedov
In a recent interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, Page responded to this by saying:
“For me, I guess he looked a bit off in his weight cut and one of my teammates was saying the same thing, but I felt like he maybe just didn’t do his cut right properly which I’ve seen many fighters do in terms of how stressful that can be,”
Page continued: “If I was to give him any advice moving forward, just regardless of that, if you accept the fight knowing that you have had anything prior to the fight then the result is the result.
“If you win you can say what you want but if you lose you know just keep it to yourself.
“Maybe later on down the line, you can kind of say I had a few issues but directly afterwards he could be completely factual, but it just comes across wrong, comes across as an excuse.
“That would be my only advice for him.”

Assessing Magomedov’s potential
Page was also asked about where he feels Magomedov’s ceiling would be as a fighter.
MVP credited the Russian’s striking but felt he may have some potential holes in his game when it comes to the grappling.
“If there were five more seconds, I would have tapped him out via triangle. It was way too easy to get to that position.
“I knew the time was going to be up anyway, so I went for a crazy kick, and he had probably about five or six seconds and in that time, he ended up in a triangle.
“That’s dangerous so that says something about his jiu-jitsu - he’s going to have to work on that.
“Stand-up-wise, I do believe he’s exceptional, he’s very fast, and he’s smart there were a couple of times I had to keep readjusting because he kept adjusting his timing.
“Yeah, striking wise he’s talented but he’s going to have to work on a few other things as well.” Page said.
Whether his next fight is at 170- or 185-pounds ‘MVP’ has proved he is capable of beating fighters ranked in the top 15 of two weight classes in the UFC.
He has also opened up possibilities for many intriguing matchups in 2025.
