NFL betting tips: Cowboys offence to prevail, Rams to struggle at home

It was another 50% hit-rate in our previous picks – here's hoping things are a little more predictable in gameweek eight.

After an electrifying last round in the NFL, with both the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers putting on offensive clinics, the league is starting to heat up.

This week sees undefeated Kansas City Chiefs at Las Vegas Raiders, struggling Tennessee Titans at Detroit Lions, and red-hot Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns.

Sports News Blitz’s resident NFL maestro Sam Condy has done the homework and identified the top Sky Bet picks ahead of this weekend’s action.

Minnesota Vikings at Los Angeles Rams

On paper, the Minnesota Vikings would appear to be huge favourites.

With only one loss this season – coming last week to the Detroit Lions – the Minnesota outfit have cemented themselves as the team to beat this season.

However, considering the short rest between games as well as travel requirements, the odds for a Vikings victory have been slashed.

Nevertheless, it is hard to envision the subpar Los Angeles Rams leaving with anything other than bruised egos.

Suggested bet: Minnesota Vikings (-8.5) @ 5/2

Dallas Cowboys at San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers have had a tough start to the season, with almost their entire offence out injured.

It looks likely that they will be without all of their starting pass-catchers, meaning they will have to lean on their running offence against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys are also injury-plagued. With DeMarcus Lawrence set to miss out and question marks over Micah Parsons and Daron Bland, the Dallas defence is looking shaky.

However, the incredibly thinned 49ers offence will likely struggle to capitalise.

The Niners have struggled defensively this season, allowing a 46% conversion rate on third down (27th in the NFL). Matched up against a Cowboys offence who are top ten in third down conversion, the San Francisco outfit may be in for a long night at home.

Suggested bet: Dallas Cowboys (+2.5) @ 5/4

New York Giants at Pittsburgh Steelers

The New York Giants enter this week off the back of a 28-3 thrashing by the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

The Giants have had a tough start to this season, currently 2-5 and having a real issue finding the endzone, averaging just 14.1 ppg.

Conversely, the Steelers will be hoping for their second straight win against a New York side after a 37-10 thrashing of the Jets on Sunday.

The Pittsburgh side are one of the most run-heavy teams in the league. Following the Eagles' trouncing of the Giants – in a run-heavy performance from Philadelphia – the Steelers will likely look to continue to lean on their ground game, keeping the ball out of the air.

That said, the Steelers are nowhere near as efficient as the Eagles. While they should cruise to victory on Tuesday night, it will likely be an incredibly low-scoring game.

Suggested bet: Pittsburgh Steelers (-6.5) @ 10/11
