Star Sports partners with George Boughey as trainer expands at Newmarket base

Star Sports is the new sponsor of Classic-winning trainer George Boughey’s yard in Newmarket.

The 32-year-old, who recently celebrated the third Group 1 success of his career when Believing won the Al Quoz Sprint in Dubai, trains for some of the leading owners in British and Irish racing including Coolmore, Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, Amo Racing and Highclere Thoroughbreds.

This season Boughey has relocated to former Godolphin yard, Craven House Stables, in Newmarket as he continues to rapidly expand his training operation.

He joins current Star Sports ambassadors, leading jockey Harry Skelton and legendary former rider Davy Russell, in the firm’s expanding stable and will provide regular updates and content featuring his key horses throughout the season.

The partnership also involves full branding on saddle cloths, stable staff clothing and around the yard.

Boughey said: “It’s fantastic to be working with Star Sports and I’m looking forward to seeing what this season brings. We’ve got a really strong group of horses and I'll have a weekly blog covering my runners and thoughts on each of them which will appear on the Star Sports website.

“The move to Craven House Stables marks a hugely exciting new chapter for everyone in the yard and it’s brilliant to have already got a Group 1 win on the board with Believing.”

Flynn Goward, Managing Director at Star Sports, said: “George has had an unbelievable start to his training career and his star continues to rise.

“His recent expansion underlines his ambitions and we’re delighted to sponsor the yard, while I’m sure our customers will be equally pleased to have regular updates from such a powerful stable.”
