Two punters pull off Grand National betting masterclass
Official Betting Partner of the Randox Grand National Festival, William Hill, are reeling after two shrewd punters won big thanks to Saturday’s main event.
One customer landed a £12 combination tricast when correctly selecting Nick Rockett, I Am Maximus and Grangeclare West as the first three home, taking home a cool £15,332.
The other punter also has Nick Rockett and Patrick Mullins to thank, as he was part of a winning £2 each-way treble which also featured the 50/1 winner of Aintree’s opener, Deep Cave, and 13/2 Yarmouth scorer Marmoga, netting a tasty £20,236.
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “While the result of this year’s Grand National had looked one for the layers, we’ve been stung by two nice bets which have stopped us reaching for the champagne. One punter managed to predict the first three home, Nick Rockett, I Am Maximus and Grangeclare West, to land a cool £15,332 from just a £12 stake.
“And it wasn’t just that, with another customer managing to pull off a £20,236 haul when finding three winners, including National hero Nick Rockett, on Saturday. We have to tip our hat here, as the punter in question also managed to find a 50/1 winner, which is a sensational bet.”
