NBA betting tips: Nuggets to stuff Suns, Mavericks to topple Timberwolves

Most people would consider swapping lives with LeBron James, but perhaps not on Christmas Day.

The show must go on this Wednesday, as the NBA’s star names spend another day on the court and away from their families.

We’re being treated to a festive feast of basketball, with Jayson Tatum, Steph Curry, Luka Doncic and King James all in action.

Sports News Blitz writer George Dempsey is on hand with another round of NBA betting tips.

Minnesota Timberwolves at Dallas Mavericks

The Timberwolves have dropped four of their last six matches as the offence maxed out at 106 points across those contests.

That level of production sits well below the league average, yet it’s often enough to claim victory thanks to their league-leading defence.

That’s not the case recently as the Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks dropped 113+ on them in lopsided defeats.

On the other hand, the Dallas Mavericks are feeling good about themselves. They’ve won three of four, averaging 120.75 points.

Given Minnesota's current struggles, the festive atmosphere may not be enough to lift their spirits against a surging Mavericks team.

Suggested bet: Dallas Mavericks -5.5

Denver Nuggets @ Phoenix Suns

The Suns are at their best when they have their biggest names on the floor. Devin Booker is expected to miss this game, leaving Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal to fend for themselves.

That wasn’t enough two days ago, as the Nuggets made light work of them in a 117-90 win.

The quick turnaround and healthy margin of victory means revenge is definitely a strong consideration for this match, but we don’t think the Suns match up well.

Nikola Jokic has enjoyed himself in recent meetings with Phoenix, as was the case again on Monday when he top scored with 32 points.

Denver were on a back-to-back having played overtime the night before, which is typically a situation where teams underperform.

Phoenix were on course to win a third consecutive game until Booker went down injured in the third quarter, leading to their collapse in a 120-111 defeat to the Indiana Pacers.

Their defence was typically nowhere to be seen the following match, a 133-125 defeat to the Detroit Pistons.

The Suns defence is on par with the worst teams in the NBA, so it’s impossible to make a good case for them covering such a slim spread without their best scorer.

Suggested bet: Denver Nuggets -2.5
