NFL betting tips: Denver Broncos to give Kansas City Chiefs tough ride, Detroit Lions to roar again

After minor success with some risky picks last time out, the adrenaline has subsided and it is time for more rational decision-making as we head into gameweek ten of the NFL regular season.

The Chiefs extended their unbeaten run last week, seeing off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a hotly contested battle thanks to Patrick Mahomes throwing for 291 yards and three touchdowns. This week, however, promises a tough assignment against the Broncos.

Elsewhere in gameweek nine, there were wins for the Lions, the Washington Commanders, and the Buffalo Bills as the top sides look a cut above the rest.

Below, Sports News Blitz’s NFL correspondent Sam Condy lines up his top Sky Bet picks ahead of this week's action.

Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens

The opening game of week ten is shaping up to be an absolute thriller. With both sides coming off of energetic offensive performances, fans should be in for a high-octane clash on Friday.

Against the Las Vegas Raiders last week, the Bengals racked up 41 points as quarterback Joe Burrow's arm continues to impress. For the second time this season, the Cincinnati superstar threw for five touchdowns.

The Ravens, meanwhile, stormed through the Denver Broncos on their way to a huge 41-10 victory, with MVP hopefuls Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry putting on a clinic.

Playing at home, the Ravens should have enough star power to get the job done. There does, however, appear to be a lack of respect for the Bengals on the part of the bookies. A bet on the Ravens to just scrape by is thus enticing.

Suggested bet: 1-6 Baltimore Ravens @ 7/2

Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs

All signs point to the Chiefs holding on to their unbeaten run as they face a deflated Broncos side on Sunday. The Broncos, to be fair, will not make it easy.

Despite a blowout loss in week nine, the Denver outfit still has one of the best defences in the league. If a good defensive performance is coupled with star wide receiver Courtland Sutton stepping up to the mark, the Super Bowl favourites might just find themselves in trouble.

Once again, the Chiefs have been given a massive spread to cover. In the last two weeks, the Kansas side have been given nine- and ten-point spreads and failed to cover on both occasions.

While undefeated, winning coin-flip games has become a bit of a theme for the Super Bowl champions of late. Betting on a close game appears to be the best play.

Suggested bet: Denver Broncos (+7.5) @ 5/6

Detroit Lions at Houston Texans

The Lions are currently firing on all cylinders and starting to look like a real Super Bowl threat. Having outpointed the Green Bay Packers last time out for a sixth straight win, the Lions are on their longest winning run since the 2010-2011 season.

Jared Goff has been particularly impressive this season, with the veteran quarterback completing 18 of his 22 passes against the Packers and leading the league with a 74.9% completion rate.

The Texans will not be an easy opponent for the Detroit side but, considering they are plagued with injuries at the moment, it is hard to see them coming out on top. The Lions for their part just seem to keep finding a way to get the job done.

Suggested bet: Detroit Lions (-3.5) @ 10/11

Miami Dolphins at Los Angeles Rams

The Rams look to be a side on the up as they enter the second half of the regular season. Starting the season ranked 31st in opponent Expended Points Added (EPA) per play. Since returning from their rest week, however, they rank an impressive second.

In contrast, the Dolphins have yet to bounce back from their slow start to the season. Tua Tagovailoa has looked strong since returning from injury, but the quarterback will really need to step up his game if his side are to compete through the rest of the campaign.

This game is likely to be a close one. Having finally found some consistency, the Rams should have enough to get over the line and make it three victories in a row for the rapidly improving side.

Suggested bet: Los Angeles Rams (-2.5) @ 4/5

The accumulator is huge this week. While unlikely, the odds do appear to favour the bettor. A low-stake bet on it coming through is attractive.

Accumulator odds: 27.35/1
