Premier League betting tips: Liverpool and Chelsea fancied, Chris Wood to carry on scoring

The Bookie Basher has some tricks and treats for you all in his bag of Premier League tips - and gives his prediction for Chelsea v Arsenal.

Chris Wood’s form for Nottingham Forest has piqued his betting interest as he prepares to face Newcastle - and he also looks at Liverpool’s home clash with Villa.

Let’s get into it…

Before we kick off just checking we all had a decent Halloween? I didn’t, I’ll level with you.

Had a kid at the door about 6ft who sounded like Barry White. Ye f***er I didn’t know whether to give him sweets or offer him a can of John Smith’s.

Brighton v Manchester City

Three defeats off the belt. Are Manchester City officially now in crisis? Because let’s have it right, the only person who has had a worse week than Pep Guardiola is Kamala Harris.

That 4-1 defeat to Sporting on Tuesday night saw the team slump to a third consecutive defeat across all competitions for the first time since 2018.

Brighton next, and the good news for City fans is that the Seagulls have only won one of 14 Premier League meetings between the clubs.

Under normal circumstances, City at 8/11 here would be a smash job.

However, these are far from normal times and City’s injury list remains quite naughty.

One cannot hate Brighton at 7/2 here but the smart play might be to back them to score more than one goal against a team who are really getting opened up defensively at the minute.

Suggested Bet: Over 1.5 home goals at 17/10 (888 Sport)

Liverpool v Aston Villa

If City are rocking, the Reds are purring.

Liverpool dismantled Bayer Leverkusen the other night and kudos to yer man Arne Slot for allowing Ryan Gravenberch to sit a bit deeper and taking a load of pressure off their midfield.

Slot’s tactical understanding of how to adapt against certain opposition is excellent.

His fringe is obviously not excellent, or even existent, but who gives a f**k when they are mullering teams like Leverkusen in Europe and are two points clear at the top domestically?

Villa are a decent team but just seem to have gone off the boil a bit and won’t be looking forward to their trip to Merseyside.

When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

Well, here I f***ing am folks and today’s lesson will consist of lumping Liverpool and both teams to score at a more than fair price of 7/4.

Suggested Bet: Liverpool to win & both teams to score a 7/4 (bet365)

Nottingham Forest v Newcastle United

Two teams in form here.

The Magpies have won back-to-back matches and ended a run of five without a win in the Premier League with that impressive ‘W’ over Arsenal last Saturday.

Forest sit third in the table – which is just mental - having won three matches on the spin and having won them despite having boss Nuno Espirito Santo sat in the stands for said wins as he served out a three-game touchline ban.

Chris Wood has eight Premier League goals already and the 32-year-old has low key morphed into a peak Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima in recent weeks.

The Kiwi baller is now Forest's second all-time leading scorer in the Premier League with 23, just one behind Dutch maverick Bryan Roy (24) having already overtaken former talkSPORT maverick Stan Collymore.

In short, man who scratch ass should not bite fingernails.

Suggested Bet: Wood to score anytime at 23/10 (LiveScoreBet/Unibet)

Chelsea v Arsenal

The Blues leapfrogged Arsenal into fourth after that 1-1 draw at Manchester United and while both teams have the same number of wins, draws and defeats in the league, Chelsea’s recent form has been less erratic.

It’s no win in three for Arsenal domestically who have also just lost Edu as their sporting director and been beaten by Inter in the Champions League this week.

For a layer of intrigue, the Premier League have confirmed that Michael Oliver will referee Sunday’s clash, his first really high-profile fixture since dismissing Leandro Trossard controversially in the Gunners' chaotic 2-2 draw with Manchester City a few weeks back.

Chelsea are without a win against the Gunners in any of their last five meetings.

Despite this, 2/1 about them winning this at HQ just looks too big not to nibble.

Suggested Bet: Chelsea to win at 2/1 (bet365)
