NFL betting tips: Super Bowl LIX – Kansas City Chiefs to beat Philadelphia Eagles with Patrick Mahomes the MVP

After an enthralling season of NFL action, Super Bowl LIX sees defending champions the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles clash in New Orleans on Sunday.

The Chiefs are out to make history as the first-ever team to win three consecutive NFL championships, while the Eagles want to add another title to their trophy cabinet after triumphing at Super Bowl LII.

With stars such as Taylor Swift’s beau Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, and Saquon Barkley set to feature this weekend, all eyes will be on the Caesars Superdome for what promises to be an epic showdown.

Sports News Blitz writer Sam Condy breaks things down ahead of the game and offers a prediction.

Super Bowl LIX breakdown

All season long, I have firmly believed that – despite a genuinely glowing record – the Chiefs were not good enough and would be found out accordingly in the play-offs.

Yet, here we are as they once again stand inches away from another Super Bowl title.

Mahomes, in particular, has been hit-and-miss throughout the season but, with his tendency to come up clutch in big games, the Eagles can expect nothing less than a top-drawer performance from the quarterback on Sunday.

Additionally, in light of Philadelphia’s struggles with defending tight ends, Kelce will be hoping to roll the clock back and give a vintage display in New Orleans in order to offer Mahomes some much-needed relief.

By all accounts, the Eagles have a tough job on their hands come Sunday, but it certainly is not impossible.

To dethrone a Chiefs side that allowed the third-fewest rushing yards to running backs during the regular season, Barkley will need to fire on all cylinders.

Likewise, much of the Eagles’ hopes will depend on quarterback Hurts and his use of tight end Dallas Goedert to break open the Chiefs' defence.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Hurts reflected on his journey since losing Super Bowl LVII.

“[It’s about] the growth and the time. Every day, there's a new lesson and learning opportunity,” he said.

“[By] being a more mature person … [and a] better leader … I've been able to push myself and push the threshold of my whole entire career.”

He also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to play in a second Super Bowl.

“It means everything,” the 26-year-old said. “[To] have an opportunity to pursue whatever it is you're passionate about and whatever it is you love … I think that’s very important.”

Super Bowl LIX prediction

Despite sparking doubts throughout the season, the Chiefs are in the Super Bowl with a chance at making history and will not go down without a fight.

The Eagles certainly have the ability to get revenge for that loss in Super Bowl LVII, but I am expecting a season-high performance from big-game masters the Chiefs come Sunday.

It is sure to be a defensive-minded game, with attacking opportunities few and far between for both sides.

However, the Chiefs are likely to capitalise if and when the Eagles make an error.

Suggested bet: Kansas City Chiefs @ 4/5 (Sky Bet)

Bonus bet: Patrick Mahomes Super Bowl LIX MVP @ 5/4 (Sky Bet Bet Boost)
