Premier League betting tips: Man Utd to topple Man City; Tottenham set for score draw
The Bookie Basher is going to channel The Grinch and take his Christmas tree down if Manchester United don’t add to Manchester City’s misery this weekend.
Sports News Blitz’s top-flight tipster reckons Ruben Amorim is going to get the better of poor old Pep Guardiola, who is missing Rodri more than the desert misses the rain.
He’s also backing Tottenham to continue their rollercoaster ride of a season with a draw at Southampton, but expects goals to flow at St Mary’s.
Enough of the fluff, let’s get stuck into the tips…
Nottingham Forest vs Aston Villa
How are we getting on then? We have reached the business end of the drinking season.
Squeaky bum time (especially for those on Guinness). A time of relentless sauced up lunacy for many. Liver working overtime. Necking Tequila Rose shots with people who are half alright, and scumbags like Danny from HR.
Both of these teams have picked up 25 points from 15 matches so far, so the bookies are a bit on the fence about who will prevail.
Villa took a huge step towards reaching the Champions League knockouts in midweek, and boss Unai Emery now has a decision to make about Jhon Duran.
The Colombia international bagged another pearler on Tuesday from fully 25 yards. That was his 10th goal of the season, yet he has only made four starts in all competitions.
Forest have been a breath of fresh air this term, but Villa could have more firepower here and I am backing them to emerge with all three points.
Suggested Bet: Aston Villa to win & both teams to score at 4/1 (bet365)

Brighton vs Crystal Palace
There’s not been a great deal between the Eagles and the Seagulls in the Premier League era. In 14 matches, Brighton have won four, Palace have won three with the rest being draws.
Brighton cruised to a 4-1 win in this fixture back in February, but Palace will be confident after that impressive 2-2 draw against Manchester City last time out.
A ‘Desmond’ scoreline cannot be ruled out again in this one given both teams like to get on the front foot, so I’ll take a bit of 14/1 thank you very much.
Remember, the eyes are useless when the mind is blind.
Suggested Bet: 2-2 draw at 14/1 (bet365/Hills)
Manchester City vs Manchester United
OK I am just going to come straight out and say it. Manchester United are a play here at 4/1.
I know you can’t eat value, or indeed pay your mortgage with it, but City have not looked right for a while now and only the clinically insane will be steaming into them at 4/7 to win this surely?
I make it one win in nine matches for Pep Guardiola’s team, and the Spaniard has said this week that he won’t manage another club after Manchester City.
If that’s true, history will remember him as one of the greats, but his club are leaking goals and 4/7 is only a price for a staunch devotee of lowlife in my eyes.
Dan Ashworth gave the green light to approximately £200m worth of spending on men like Leny Yoro, Manuel Ugarte and Josh Zirkzee, so he can’t have too many complaints about getting the old Tin Tack from Old Trafford.
Ashwoth has gone, but I’m bullish about the away win here by the way.
In fact, if the Red Devils don’t win this am taking the tree down.
Suggested Bet: Manchester United to win at 4/1 (General)
Southampton vs Tottenham Hotspur
More craziness from Spurs last week as they surrendered a two-goal lead against Chelsea and ended up on the wrong side of a 4-3 thriller.
Everyone’s a critic of course. Yet I have thought of a possible solution. They should send their defensive performance against Chelsea into You’ve Been Framed! and spend the £250 on raw eggs and milk.
Make the players watch Rocky while drinking the raw eggs and milk while Big Ange shouts “You’re gonna eat lightning and you’re gonna crap thunder” in a New Jersey accent.
Southampton may be bottom but Spurs are an absolute circus at the minute and have lost seven Premier League games already under Ange Postecoglou.
Should Big Ange be taking all the grief here though? What about Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and his 14 managers in 24 years?
Whatever. The Saints – already eight points from safety in December – will be up for this and I can see them giving it a real go. This match has real comedic defending / score draw energy.
Suggested Bet: Draw at 7/2 (Betfred)
