Premier League betting tips: Nottingham Forest to bounce back, Tottenham to lose, again
After a thrilling - and overwhelming - night of UEFA Champions League football, Sports News Blitz is back with some betting tips for the Premier League.
Four tips last week. Four losers.
The Bookie Basher’s luck is that bad at the minute that if he bought a f***ing cemetery people would stop dying.
The rampaging toro is not unduly worried, however.
One thing about them tables is…they always turn.
Nottingham Forest vs Brighton
Not sure what was going on with Nottingham Forest at Bournemouth, but they were never at the races.
They were sluggish, lethargic and second to every ball - a display that stunk in the nostrils of most fair-minded people.
However, they are still third in the table and where there’s Chris Wood there’s a way.
Wood has 14 goals in 23 Premier League matches this season at a rate of 0.61 goals per game.
That’s a heavy stat and 5/1 to score first against Brighton is just pure punting smut.
Suggested Bet: Wood to score first at 5/1 (bet365/Betfair Sportsbook/Paddy Power)

Wolves vs Aston Villa
Same old same old for Wolves - too easy to score against and not clinical enough when it matters.
This squad has relegation written all over it, given how there seems to be no urgency from the suits upstairs to strengthen.
Aston Villa have looked absolutely mustard in the Champions League.
Although, after lumping on them to beat Celtic on Wednesday night I don’t mind admitting my arse was nipping while watching a crazy contest.
Villa scored four, missed a penalty, hit a post, had one cleared off the line and ultimately got the job done to send me to bed a happy man.
But having watched that game I’ve got zero confidence that they can keep a clean sheet this weekend.
Tyrone Mings came off with a knee injury in the first half of Villa's Premier League match against West Ham, and Villa more or less fell apart after that.
They looked rudderless at the back in midweek too.
The defensive colossus took to Instagram after the 1-1 draw with West Ham to reassure the fans, saying:
“I’ve had some serious knee injuries in my time, this isn’t one of them. Thank you for all of your messages.”
Not sure why but this post made me chuckle - possibly at the absurdity of the Premier League.
With respect, who gives a flying f*** Tyrone?
Imagine me taking to Instagram after a two-day bender and saying: ‘I’ve had some serious hangovers in my time, this isn’t one of them. Thank you for all your messages.’
I guess what I am trying to say here is if you don’t back Villa to win and both teams to score, you deserve a peasant's death.
Suggested Bet: Aston Villa to win & both teams to score at 11/4 (bet365/Skybet)
Brentford vs Tottenham
Big Ange Postecoglou was 2/5 to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job after last weekend’s fixtures.
And that’s because Tottenham’s season plunged to new depths of moodiness on Sunday with that honking 2-1 loss to Leicester City.
To put it into context, Leicester had been on a seven-match losing streak before arriving in North London.
Spurs have taken four points from the last 33 available.
They’ve looked sh*te for ages and Brentford are not a bad side at all, especially at HQ.
21/20 for Spurs to lose again? Take my f***ing money.
Suggested Bet: Brentford to win at 21/20 (Hills/Paddy Power/Sky Bet)

Arsenal v Manchester City
Huge match to wrap up the weekend.
Not a vintage Arsenal performance against Wolves, but Declan Rice was different class.
Man City are 22/1 to win the league. Anyone tempted?
They are a mile behind but can you really say - with absolute certainty - they won’t suddenly go on a heater and win their next 15 matches?
Pressure bursts pipes and we have seen Liverpool implode before, haven’t we?
The question everyone will be asking though, is whether City keep faith with Abdukodir Khusanov.
A howler led to an early goal, a foul and a yellow card for Khusanov - all in the space of three comedic three minutes.
As far as debuts go, that had Jonathan Woodgate Real Madrid energy.
Pep Guardiola’s men are playing on the edge of chaos this season, too often vulnerable on the counter-attack, with too many spaces in midfield for the opposition to exploit.
But as the irascible G.K Chesterton once mused, ‘There is a road from the eye to the heart that does not go through the intellect’, and for this reason I will be lumping on Pep’s mob at 5/2 on Sunday.
Suggested Bet: Manchester City to win at 5/2 (General)
