Premier League Darts news: Night 11 preview and predictions

The PDC stars travel to Rotterdam for Night 11, where last week’s nightly winner, Nathan Aspinall, took the glory last year.

Wins for Luke Littler and Luke Humphries widened the gap between themselves and the playoff chasers with six nights to play.

Sports News Blitz writer Joseph Hannen previews the playoff race, which is as close as ever, with three players heading to the Netherlands on level points.

Aspinall’s Manchester magic

A finishing masterclass powered Aspinall past Rob Cross in last week’s quarter-final, as The Asp went 6/6 on the outer ring.

An average of 101.31 earned a win over Michael van Gerwen before beating Humphries 6-4 in the final from 3-0 down.

The Asp sits third on 15 points, level with Van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price, with Price set to take on Aspinall in Rotterdam’s second quarter-final.

The Iceman has two wins over his opponent this campaign but has only scored three points since his Night 6 win in Nottingham.

The top two comfortably ahead

Quarter-final wins for the world’s top two have all but confirmed their places at the O2 Arena, with Littler on 28 points and Humphries 23.

Littler retains a league-leading 113 180s and 103.27 average across the tournament and takes on Rob Cross on Thursday.

Voltage sits three points off the top four and has already lost four times against Littler this campaign, averaging 98.83 across his 16 matches.

For Humphries, he takes on seventh-place Chris Dobey, who only has four wins to his name.

The world No.1 has a 3-0 record over Dobey, including a win in Dobey’s hometown, Newcastle.

Humphries recorded a 118.43 average last week against Stephen Bunting, the third-highest in Premier League darts history.

Playoffs wide open

Unless Dobey and Bunting can pick up multiple nightly wins, it looks like a four-horse race for the final two playoff spots.

Van Gerwen takes on rock-bottom Bunting; a win would guarantee a top-four spot for another week unless Cross took home the nightly win.

MVG has only managed one final appearance, which is the key factor in why the seven-time Premier League champion is eight points off second place.

The season averages for Aspinall, Price, and Van Gerwen are 95.60, 96.20, and 97.32, respectively.

Cross’ eighth consecutive loss to Aspinall in the Premier League means he has been pointless in the last two weeks, and he is the only player yet to reach a nightly final.

Rotterdam order of play and predictions

The order of play for Night 11 is as follows:

  • Chris Dobey vs Luke Humphries

  • Gerwyn Price vs Nathan Aspinall

  • Stephen Bunting vs Michael van Gerwen

Luke Littler vs Rob Cross

I think a fourth nightly final between Littler and Humphries is in store, as well as a surprise win for Bunting over Van Gerwen.

Aspinall’s strong form will get him over the line against Price before defeat to Humphries.

For Voltage, I think it's five losses on the bounce against Littler, with the teenager beating Cross, Bunting and Humphries for his fifth nightly win.
