Premier League betting tips: Kai Havertz and Liam Delap to score; Everton and Tottenham to draw in banter clash

Newcastle aim to extend their winning streak, Arsenal look to keep pace in the title race, and Everton and Spurs prepare for a banter-filled battle in a thrilling Premier League weekend.

The Premier League is back in full swing, and so is Sports News Blitz’s top-flight tipster the Bookie Basher - returning from a week in Tenerife that could generously be described as eventful.

For the record, nasal tanners do not work unless you want to look ridiculous, and Jet2 called his on-flight performance on the way out “a macabre spectacle involving Grey Goose miniatures.”

This weekend’s action is brimming with intrigue, banter, and in some cases, managers who talk like Tyson Fury.

From Kai Havertz proving that he can, in fact, find the back of the net, to Liam Delap making a statement to Pep who’s managing a side that is as stable as a three-legged chair, the storylines are writing themselves.

The Bookie Basher has crunched some numbers and reckons he needs to drink a slack 39.4 pints of water before the end of Friday to rehydrate sufficiently and repel the demons. He hopes a few winners this weekend will sort the heebie-jeebies.

So, grab your drink of choice - water highly recommended - and let’s navigate the thrills and spills of the Premier League weekend together.

Newcastle United v AFC Bournemouth

How good are Newcastle man?

A club record-equalling nine wins off the belt and Eddie Howe is giving off-peak Giovanni Trapattoni vibes.

Howe of course made his name at Bournemouth so this one will be a bit special for him.

It won’t be easy, though. The Cherries were excellent against Chelsea the other night and actually have a fine recent record against the Mags.

Indeed, the last Toon win in this fixture was in July 2020 during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Alexander Isak scored for the eighth successive Premier League game on Wednesday night and only a lunatic would bet against the Mags in this kind of form.

I am not that lunatic.

Suggested Bet: Newcastle to win & both teams to score at 2/1 (bet365)

Arsenal v Aston Villa

Mikel Arteta aggressively pumped his fists to the stands after that north London derby win and well he might.

He’s been in charge of Arsenal now for five years and is the Premier League's third longest-serving manager.

However - with just the 2020 FA Cup to his name - is patience beginning to wear thin among some fans?

Yet for all their recent failings they are right back in the title race and while they obviously could use another fox in the box-type striker, Kai Havertz has seven goals in 18 matches.

The German gets the vote here to bag first against Villa at a kinky 11/2.

Suggested Bet: Havertz to score first at 11/2 (bet365/Betfair/PaddyPower)

Everton v Tottenham Hotspur

Taking charge of his first Everton home match in precisely 4,266 days the other night, David 'Moyesie' Moyes witnessed at close quarters the monumental task he has on his hands following a chastising 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

The atmosphere at Goodison Park was bouncing to be fair, but the players failed to deliver and the Toffees are just a solitary point above the drop zone as things stand.

I found it a bit mad to sack Sean Dyche the day of a game, but it had been coming. Three wins all season and barely any more for all of 2024.

For all his faults - and the fact he talks like Tyson Fury - I don't think many other managers could have come in and done what Dychey did with the Blues’ hefty 8-point deduction last season.

Evertonians will always be grateful for that, but the club must get this next chapter right.

This feels like the battle of the banter clubs on Sunday, so I’m getting splinters firmly in my arse by sitting on the fence and calling a draw.

Suggested Bet: 1-1 draw at 13/2 (bet365)

Ipswich Town v Manchester City

Like vapes, pulled pork and pegging, Manchester City being rubbish is a pretty new phenomenon.

Indeed, it is frightening to see how low City are in confidence. A shadow of their former selves without Rodri.

I smashed into them to beat Brentford On Tuesday and made a note in my diary after the game.

Simply says...'bugger'.

Josko Gvardiol and Manuel Akanji are still liabilities defensively so young Liam Delap to score anytime in Sunday’s late kick-off at 7/2 is sat up and simply begging to be smashed.

Suggested Bet: Delap to score anytime at 7/2 (Betfair/Paddy Power)
